Whole School Blog

During this time of uncertainty, we will be using our whole school blog as a place to share some interesting and fun activities that can be shared with your children. Take care and stay safe from all staff at New Penshaw Academy.

1st March 2021: Science week begins

Week beginning Monday 1st March, New Penshaw Academy will be taking part in British Science Week. The children at home, and in school will be using their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical (STEM) skills to create and develop concepts linked to this year’s theme ‘Innovating for the future’.
During the week beginning Monday 8th March, we are working with British Science Week to develop our Secret Garden. The children of New Penshaw Academy are going to construct a beautiful garden across the week and we can’t wait to show you the finished area – it’s going to be amazing! Please check our Facebook page, Eco Team blog and your own class blog for updates.

21st May 2020: COVID-19 UPDATE

Please see the below letter with the latest updates on the reopening of schools.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all well. I just wanted to update you as much as I can about what is going on behind the scenes in school, as I’m aware you will all be wondering what the very near future may hold in terms of our children returning to school.

We are still very much at the planning stage of the possible re-opening of school. I have been working through the guidance that the Government have issued very carefully to ensure that all advice is followed and that any plans made are done so with the utmost care and attention given to the health and safety of all children and staff.

As I’m sure you will appreciate, this is something that takes time, especially under these circumstances. As a school we are working closely with the Local Authority in order to complete all relevant risk assessments and ensure they are robust and in place before I will allow any staff or children to work in our building.

I apologise that I cannot provide you with any further information at this time, but I will update you all later on the week when I know more.

For now, what I can say is that from June 1st, our school will re-open in a childcare capacity for children of key workers. So the provision that was at Fatfield Academy will move back to New Penshaw’s building from June 1st.

Thank you so much to all of you for your continued support and patience through these very unusual circumstances.

Mrs Johnson

Please see the letter below regarding an update on a potential reopening of school for your year group.

Under the current circumstances, we anticipate that many of your young children have a great deal of questions around COVID-19. With this is mind, we want to share COVIBOOK – a text written to help discuss the key issues surrounding COVID-19. Please see the below link and share this with your children.
